Verse of the Day: God is SOVEREIGN

Colossians 3:1-2

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” (NKJV)

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” (NLT)

This chapter of Colossians is all about putting on Christ. Taking on His ways and thoughts, and shedding the things of this world. Getting rid of the desires and temptations of the flesh and washing yourself clean with His righteousness.

Take off your dirty clothes, and accept the clean linnen that He so freely offers!

It is absolutely MIND-BOGGLING that Paul is saying this- while he sits in prison! An innocent man, just proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Me? I sit here and get SO discouraged when I focus on the things of this world. How sad and cruel it is becoming. How daunting Satan’s influences are, how hopeless this life can seem sometimes.

But guess what Satan!? God is still sovereign!! Haha!

Set your mind on the things above. Heavenly things. Like God’s plan for your life. And eternity in Heaven with Him. This world is so temporary, the change in the perspective is literally breath-taking.

I leave for college in less than 3 weeks. My family is moving, and I won’t be here to help the transition. I have a group of girls that I so desperately want to lead to the Lord this semester. But God is good.

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.” -Matthew 6:34
